Reaching Out to the Durham Eagles

On Saturday, September 26th, the 1740 Foundation, in conjunction with Rivals Lacrosse, invited the Durham Eagle football program to campus for a free lacrosse clinic.  Durham Cares was able to provide transportation to and from Duke Campus.

Approximately 65 kids attended and, due to generosity of Great Atlantic Lacrosse, were provided with free lacrosse sticks to keep.  The boys enjoyed a clinic which was lead by 5th year senior Devon Sherwood.  Players from the Duke Men's lacrosse team  provided individualized instruction on lacrosse basics.

After the clinic, the parents and players had a barbeque and watched a Duke Lacrosse highlight tape in the squad room.  The players and one of their parents then received free tickets to the Duke Football game versus NC Central in Wallace Wade Stadium.
